Obituary of Yolanda M. Wilson
Yolanda M. Wilson, a devoted community member and resident of Lake Forest for over 40 plus years, died at the age of 86 years of age on January 25, 2022 in Naples, Florida. She was born Yolanda Marie Maccarone on May 27, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA to parents Joseph L. Maccarone, C.P.A. and mother Yolanda Marie Rossi Maccarone, housewife. Yolanda was the oldest of three children; Yolanda is survived by her sister Sandra Maccarone and brother Richard Maccarone.
Yolanda's early life was devoted to music, and she studied classical piano under Marain Filar at Settlement Music School and Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia. She was a proud graduate of the 185th Class of Philadelphia High School for Girls and went on to graduate from Temple University with a degree in Music. She taught music in several school systems, as well as through private piano lessons, for many years before becoming a Certified Clinical Electrologist (C.C.E.) in 1975.
In August of 1956, Yolanda married her beloved husband of 44 years, the late retired Captain Dorsey V. Wilson SC, USN. She was a proud navy wife. Yolanda and Dorsey were blessed with and are survived by their only child, a devoted and loving daughter and oncology nurse/ infusion specialist (BSN RN CRNI) Melissa Ann Wilson (Richards), along with her loving and caring son-in-law and scientist Eric J. Richards of Libertyville, IL and their only precious granddaughter, Morgan Alexandra Richards.
Captain Wilson retired from the Navy as the Director of Supply, USNTC Great Lakes.
Yolanda continued to live in her beloved home after being widowed in 2000, and she continued her certified professional electrologist practice, which she launched in Lake Forest in 1976 with her longtime office located on N. Western Avenue. Yolanda continued working until her retirement at the age of 80 years old in 2015. During her last two years of working she battled breast cancer.
During Yolanda's life in Lake Forest she made many dear and cherished friendships whom she considered her extended community family. Those who knew her would describe her as dedicated, hard working, of sharp intellect, and with a devoted, open heart, eager to share her kindness and compassion with those she touched. For this reason, Yolanda will be returning to Lake Forest from Naples, Florida for her final goodbyes to a life honored by those loved and cherished friends.
