To laugh often and love much;
To win the respect of intelligent persons
And the affection of children;
To earn the approbation of honest critics
And to endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To give of one's self;
To leave the world a little better,
Whether by a healthy child,
A garden patch
Or a redeemed social condition;
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm
And sung with exultation;
To know that even one life has breathed easier
Because you have lived -
This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, American essayist, poet and leader of the American transcendentalist movement (1803 - 1882)

Wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Maryjo helping me teach 8th Grade Students about International Foods and sewing at the Libertyville Highland Middle School. Maryjo was very creative, energetic, and fun; we also shared the same birth-date. I enjoyed many monthly-luncheons with Maryjo since we retired.

We are so deeply sorry for your loss, such a beautiful lady and glad we had the opportunity to meet her and spend time talking with her, you could see her warm loving heart in her eyes and smile. Praying for comfort to those she left behind.

Jim and family, we send our prayers and deepest sympathy on the passing of Marijo from here on earth to her heavenly home. Although it's been years since we've seen you both, we have fond memories of the In-Betweeners, way back when! Shakey's for singing, beach parties, the many, many engagements of the group, etc. You were the first of all of us to marry in 1967. And what a fun year that was; the showers, bachelor parties, and weddings. We pray that Marijo is at peace and that God wraps His loving arms around you during this time.

Dearest Jim, Our hearts are breaking at the loss of your precious Marijo. She was a tremendous friend to our whole family. When we lived next door, Marijo treated our girls like her grandchildren. It never surprised us that when she was blessed with three lovely granddaughters, her skills as a loving and fun grandma were already at "expert" level. And what a friend she was. Marijo watched our daughters grow from diapers to independent women, cheering them on with every milestone. When she asked about how any of us were doing, she really wanted to know. Marijo Komp was a true Renaissance woman. A voracious reader, she was one of the smartest, most inquisitive people we ever met. She was also artistic and incredibly creative. She was a world traveler, a consummate cook, prolific gardener and life-long learner. All of these qualities exemplified Marijo's zest for life, wrapped up in a loving friend, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and spouse to you, dearest Jim. You showed all of us what it means to live out your wedding vows, "in sickness and in health." She will be greatly and sincerely missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Marijo's pain is over. May she rest comfortably in the welcoming arms of her Heavenly Father. With love and prayers to you and your family ~
