Jessica, we met soon after your baby boy arrived in this world. I will forever remember your tenderness and warmth; your kindness, humor and gorgeous smile. You will live on in my memory for the rest of my days, and every September 13th I will celebrate sweet Armandito; your little warrior and my birthday twin. I offer this poem with my broken heart and in memory of a beautiful woman, sister, wife and mother. LOVE CAME FIRST… “You don’t move on after loss, but you must move with. You must shake hands with grief, welcome her in, for she lives with you now. Pull her a chair at the table and offer her comfort. She is not the monster you first thought her to be. She is love. And she will walk with you now, stay with you now, peacefully. If you let her. And on the days when your anger is high, remember why she came, remember who she represents. Remember. Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Jessica? A: I was lucky enough to have been friends with Jessica during our preteen/teenage years. One of my favorite things about Jessica was her strong and unwavering faith; her love for God/Jesus even at a young age so was admirable. After looking at old pictures and having memories that have been long forgotten resurface, laughter is what comes to mind and I mean the laughs that make your stomach cramp, your eyes water and makes your face hurt from smiling so hard. She was a light that graced many people’s lives and she will always be with us. My condolences to her loving family my heart and prayers go out to you all. God bless Jessica may she rest in heaven peacefully.

I was blessed to meet Jessica when she, as one of my new six-year-old students, entered my first grade classroom. Even at such a young age, Jessica brought an emotional wisdom of true empathy, kindness, caring, understanding, and compassion to our classroom. She brought a genuine and contagious smile to our learning environment everyday... always happy to be there, to work diligently on her schoolwork, to help her peers, to participate in all our classroom activities, and to exude an authentic brightness, friendship, and inspiration to all. That little girl grew into an amazing woman with an even wiser and more compassionate soul and joy for life, advocating for equity and quality in education for every child in her daily service as an educator & School Psychologist. I am so sad and broken-hearted for the great loss to her husband, her parents, her siblings, her friends, and the countless future students who will not ever meet her. I am most sad, sorry, and broken-hearted for her baby son, Armando, who will live a lifetime without her. My most heart-felt condolences to all who love Jessica. May God embrace you all within the circle of His love and protection during this difficult time. May sweet memories begin to heal your hearts and gradually replace the tears with smiles and celebration of Jessica's beautiful life. Love, Marianela Peterson
