Obituary of Marilyn Ann Sewall
Marilyn Ann Sewall, born October 28, 1942, passed away peacefully at the Bickford of Gurnee on March 9, 2023. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary LaManna (nee DeMichael), her infant son Robert Joseph, her husband Robert Sewall, and too many friends and family members.
Marilyn worked at Billings Hospital in Chicago as a phlebotomist for several years. In 1973, Marilyn was hired as an office staff member at Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein to replace a very experienced but retiring staff member. Marilyn always commented that she was totally unqualified for this job, but the kind and gracious Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary kept her busy as a receptionist and attendance secretary for 21 years. Marilyn closed her formal working years as a cashier for the Car Spa in Libertyville.
Marilyn was an active member of the St. Joseph Choir, the Handbell Choir, and a member of the Bread Ministry. She was also a member of the Ridge Readers Book Club and supported the Libertyville Lions alongside her husband Bob.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Karen LaManna, her longtime friend Josephine Gerardi, her brother and sister-in-law Andrew and Laura Sewall, the LaManna/DeMichael cousins, and friends and colleagues that she carried in her heart. She was also predeceased first by Inky, then by Boomer, and then by Peanut, her beloved pets, who were with her during times of great sorrow and much joy.
Our sincere thanks is extended to the staff at Bickford of Gurnee and the Promedica hospice team who provided Marilyn with care and comfort.
A Memorial Mass will be held 10AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville, IL, 60048.
