Obituary of Richard P Batesky
Richard “Dick” Batesky Sr., 91, Army, of Libertyville, passed away Dec. 22, 2021 peacefully surrounded by family. Native of Rochester, NY graduate of Ben Franklin high school and Purdue University of West Lafayette, Indiana in Mechanical Engineering. Dick was drafted after college during the Korean War where he was assigned to the Presidential Honor Guard which included being assigned at Arlington National Cemetery where he was a guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Dick had a great passion for jazz, all Chicago sports, and his Purdue Boilermakers.
Dick is survived by his beloved wife Kathy (nee Treacy) for 61 years; his loving children Dr. Douglas (Maura) Batesky of Libertyville, Richard Jr. (Lorri) Batesky of Carmel, IN, Ted (Stephanie) Batesky of New York City, Treacy (Phil) Cutting of Libertyville; cherished “Papa Dick” to Chris Fisher, Trace Batesky, Audrey Batesky, Myles Batesky, Trip Batesky, Emma Livorno, Jack Batesky, Grant Cutting, Andrew Cutting and Kate Cutting. Dick is preceded in death by his granddaughter Nicole Dillon Morales of Phoenix, AZ daughter of Douglas Batesky and Jana Dillon.
Visitation for Dick will be Monday Dec. 27th from 4:00 – 8:00pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday Dec. 28th at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave., Libertyville. Private interment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either The Life Raft Group in support of GIST (https://liferaftgroup.org) or Youth and Family Counseling, 1113 S Milwaukee Ave # 104, Libertyville, IL 60048 would be greatly appreciated.
