Obituary of Mary Ellen Marra

Mary Ellen Marra, 66, of Libertyville, passed away November 7, 2021 at Advocate Condell Med. Ctr. Mary Ellen was born in Chicago. She graduated from Saint Norbert College and found her professional passion as a manager of Sales and Marketing (AT&T, Xerox) where her innate ability to connect with people propelled a successful career. Faith and family were core to Mary Ellen. She gladly gave her time and energy to her parishes (St. Joseph’s, St. Paul the Apostle) over the years. She was particularly proud of her work chairing the St. Joseph Dinner Dance and the St. Paul’s 25^th Anniversary Celebration. Her greatest joy in life was raising her family, supporting each of her children uniquely – from special needs advocacy to cheerleading at Science Olympiad or sporting events.  Mary Ellen’s positive and caring nature was felt by all around her.  She never hesitated to put others before herself, and saw the good in everyone. 

Mary Ellen is survived by her adoring husband of 36 years, Nick; her loving children, Ellen (Phil) Marra, Patty (Nick) Marra and Tim Marra; her cherished siblings, Kathy (Rick) Eggert, Pat McCluskey, Terri (Bob) King, Joe (Joanne) McCluskey and Gerry (Robyn) McCluskey; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Marilyn McCluskey and her brother Gene (the late Maryellen) McCluskey.

Visitation for Mary Ellen will be from 4:00-8:00pm on Thursday November 11th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30am on Friday Nov. 12th at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.
