Obituary of Leah A Quaid

Leah A Quaid, 86, of Grayslake, passed away peacefully September 19, 2021 surrounded by her family. Leah grew up on the southside of Chicago in the Brainerd neighborhood and graduated from Calumet High School where she was the homecoming queen. She attended Northwestern University majoring in English. Leah converted to Catholicism in 1957 and shortly thereafter married the love of her life James. Shortly after marriage, she found her true calling in life and dedicated her life to her family. Being a mother and grandmother meant the world to her. Leah was the true matriarch of the family and loved hosting family gatherings throughout the years. She loved watching her children and grandchildren grow and would proudly celebrate their achievements.  She was a dedicated bargain hunter but above all, she was completely selfless and generous with her love.   Faith was an important facet of Leah’s life, and she played a key role in the formation of Our Lady of the Woods Parish in Palos Park. 

Leah is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Dr. James; her adoring children Dr. James (Diane), Steven, Michael (Maureen), Susan (Dave) Quaid-Brohan and Kelly; her cherished grandchildren Christopher, Jessica, James, Colleen, Robert, Erin, Jake, Harry, Geno, Phoebe, Jackob, Samuel and Alexander; her precious great-grandchildren Julian, Teagan, Conor, Kieran, Ian, Jackie, and Leah, and her dearest brother Robert Moone. She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Leah Moone.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00am Friday Sept. 24^th at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 22333 W Erhart Rd, Mundelein. Leah’s visitation will be at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment to follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
