Obituary of Sung Shin Kim
Please share a memory of Sung to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sung Shin Kim, age 95, passed away on February 9, 2021. Born on October 2,1925 to Byung Sun Kim and Sun Nyu Joo. Loving wife to In Chul Park. Mother to one daughter Chung Kyung Han and her husband Dong Ho Han. Proud and loving grandmother to Robert Han and his wife Sydney Orr-Han. Survived by her brother Kwang Joon Kim in the United States and two other brothers in South Korea.
Sung lived through many hardships including the Japanese occupation during World War II and the Korean War. When her daughter came to America to start a new life in the 1970s, she raised her grandson in Seoul, South Korea until her daughter and her son-in-law finished college and established themselves in the United States. When her grandson returned to America, she followed shortly thereafter to be with her family. She managed to find time to graduate beauty school as well as work for various companies for 15 years. She was a devout Christian and attended church every week until she wasn’t physically able. She loved cooking and was a great singer and storyteller.
She requested to have her ashes spread out around the tree in her backyard that she enjoyed watching over the past 20 years. This spring we will hold a special memorial when hopefully we can all be together to celebrate her life.
