My cousin Babe always encouraged me in my miniature scale farming endeavors here in Chicago (chickens, greens) or my a-bit-larger-than-expected farming endeavors at my off-grid rural property in Carroll County IL (shiitake mushrooms, bees, hardwood timber). She was one of the few people who understood exactly what I was doing and why it was so important to me. She offered a good deal of encouragement to me when I felt I was in over my head and also made me realize quality can be even more important than quantity when you're growing specialty crops. I'll raise a glass of homemade wine and tip my hat to the good woman who believed in the absolute sacredness of providing the best possible food for others. I am truly honored to share her genes.

We have such fond memories of the Cookie Lady! She was also our very special wedding organizer 40 years ago. She so effortlessly pulled everything together and did it all while ensuring fun was had by all. Forever grateful for her kindness and generosity.
