Obituary of Thomas More Schippers
Thomas More Schippers 19th Judicial Circuit Court Judge of Lake County, Illinois, passed away on September 6, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 29, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois.
He graduated with high honors from Loyola Law School of Chicago. He was a prosecutor for the Lake County State’s Attorney's Office; Illinois Attorney General’s Office; Senior Investigative Counsel, U.S. House of Representatives. He taught at the Illinois Judges Educational Conference, Loyola University School of Law, and Columbia College of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacquelin Joyce (née Liautaud) and David Philip Schippers, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Elaine (née Chartier), his daughter, Allison Elaine (Paul Hubberts), Thomas (Jacqueline), and Scott; three grandchildren, the lights in his life, Tommy and Henry Schippers, and Theo Hubberts. He is also survived by nine siblings; Kathleen Schippers (Michael Batka), David Philip Schippers III (Pat Connor), Tiyi Schippers (David Bunce), Ann (Robert) Winter, Colleen (Louis) Margolis, Kevin Schippers (Elizabeth), Dr. Mary Schippers (Scott Bullock), Patrick Schippers (Trisha), And Peter Schippers (Dr. Laura Taylor).
He is loved and cherished by many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all who knew his loving soul.
Tom was a man of strong faith. He was an avid outdoorsman. Canoeing, camping, cross country skiing, running, and observing wildlife was his passion. He found his energy in nature. He also enjoyed volunteering his time at Winchester House in Libertyville.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 9th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, Illinois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10th at Santa Maria del Popolo Catholic Church, 116 N. Lake St., Mundelein, Illinois. Private interment.
