Obituary of Peter Bennes III

Peter Bennes, III, a long-time resident of Lindenhurst, IL and a proud member of Mechanics Union Local 701 for 33 years, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at the age of 57.

Peter is survived by his wife, Sallyanne (nee Murphy) of 29 years and son, Peter Tyler, his mother Joan Bennes, his brothers, David (Marie), Bob (Ann), Jim (Diane), and Chris (Karla), his nieces and nephews, Megan, Colin, Alison, Caitlin, Brooke, Alex, Jack, Eric, Olivia, Max, and Samantha. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter, Sr., and Mayme Bennes, Frank and Ann Bronersky, and his father, Peter Bennes, Jr.

Peter was born in Lake Forest, IL on April 26, 1961 to Peter and Joan Bennes. He graduated from Libertyville High School, class of 1979 and completed his post high school training at WyoTech Institute in June of 1982. He worked at Napleton Ford, formerly Sessler Ford, in Libertyville. You could often find him in his home garage working on friends’ and family’s cars.

Peter was a devoted father involved in Indian Guides, coaching his son’s iceless hockey and baseball teams. He was an avid golfer and skier and has passed his love of these sports on to his son. He was known by many as the “Maestro” on the golf course. But the thing he will be remembered for the most by family and friends was his good-natured personality and infectious laugh and smile.

Visitation for Peter will be 4-8 pm Friday, Sept. 28th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, (Rt 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville, IL. Funeral Mass will be held 10am Saturday Sept. 29th at St. Mary’s of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US Highway 45, Indian Creek/Vernon Hills, IL.
