Obituary of Josephine Christofalos

Surrounded by her family, Josephine Christofalos went to be with the Lord on Saturday October 22, 2016. Josephine was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Ramona De La Cruz and the late Carlos Godinez. Josephine was raised by her mother Ramona De La Cruz, her Grandmother Elijia Soza and Grandfather Delfino Soza. Along with her loving sister Chris, Josephine attended primary and high school at Old St. Patrick’s Church of Chicago. In 1970, Josephine moved to Lake Bluff, Illinois with her late husband George Christofalos. Together, Josephine and George owned a restaurant and raised 3 children Vicki, Nick, and Andriana. Throughout her life, Josephine enjoyed religion, fashion, dancing, the arts, archeology, Egyptian culture, traveling, attending White Sox baseball games, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Josephine retired in 2011 after 15 years of service to JST Corporation. For the past 16 years, Josephine and Kenneth Masonick (her close friend of many years) established a wonderful companionship and home together in Lake Bluff. Josephine will be remembered by her love, compassion, forgiveness, and tenderness towards others. She was an incredible sister, mother, grandmother and most of all a grand friend. Josephine was the loving daughter of the late Ramona De La Cruz, sister of Chris(the late Peter) Dounias, Widow of the late George Christofalos, best friend Kenneth Masonick, daughter Vicki(Keith) Kennedy, son Nick(Shelia) Christofalos, daughter Andriana(Craig) Chance, five amazing grand children, one wonderful great-grand daughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28 at McMurrough Funeral Home located at 101 Park Place Libertyville, IL. from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 29 at St. Patrick’s Church at 991 S. Waukegan Rd. in Lake Forest, IL. at 10:00 a.m.. Procession will follow to Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
