Robert J. DeGroodt, 89, WW II Army Vet. serving in France, of Grayslake, passed away Sept. 13, 2016. He was an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, a 4th degree member of the Knight’s of Columbus, a proficient fisherman, and loved lake life and jigsaw puzzles.
Bob is survived by his loving daughter Darlene (Don) Placko; his cherished grandchildren Deanna (Fiancee John Ficke) Placko, Douglas (Taryn) Placko and Delanee Placko and his dearest sister Ruth Stadter. Bob was one of nine children.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Delores (nee Bauer) and his cherished grandson Dannon.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Friday Sept. 16 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, (Hunt Club & Gages Lake Rds.) Gurnee. Interment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation Thursday Sept. 15 from 4 – 8 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl (Rt 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville and Friday from 10 am until the Mass time at St. Paul the Apostle.
