Steve Messerli has posted a new condolence on the tribute to Gene McGuire. The condolence message is as follows: "I was fortunate to have played basketball with Gene many times at the Centre Club from 1991-2004. We were even teammates on the 40 and over league once or twice. He was always upbeat, positive, kind and had a generous heart and spirit. I admired his fitness level and frequently commented to him that I hoped to be playing ball at that age too. It's no wonder he lived such a long and fulfilling life. I'm sure he's now leading pick-up games in heaven. My good friend Gene...I look forward to joining you there one day so save a spot for me. The next time I have apple pie a la mode I'll be thinking of you. With deepest sympathy, but also celebration of a life well-lived, Steve Messerli"
