Obituary of Dorothy Lorraine Werdell

Dorothy Lorraine Werdell (nee Strzyzynski), 84, of Libertyville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 19, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1931 in Chicago the daughter of late Joseph and late Marie Strzyzynski (nee Kusior). She married the love of her life Robert Werdell on May 15, 1954 at Basilica of Saint Hyacinth Catholic Church in Chicago. Together they raised four children in a loving home. Dorothy was a special person, full of life and will be sorely missed. Dorothy was the happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy found great pleasure in baking cookies (especially during the holidays), reading novels, solving word games and puzzles. She worked for over 15 years at Jewel Foods in Libertyville where she truly enjoyed being around her coworkers and customers. She was a former member of St. Joseph Church in Libertyville for many years. Dorothy is survived by her children Diane (James) Jacobson of Germantown, WI, Edward (Mary) Werdell of Libertyville, IL, Thomas Werdell of Schaumburg, IL and Susan (Michael Freund) Werdell of Libertyville, IL.; her grandchildren, Natalie Freund, Jennifer (Brian) Acello, Brian Werdell and Bobby Jacobson and great-grandchildren Dakota, Annabell, Quinn, Dominic, Charlie Lynn and Hailey. She is also survived by her brother Harry (Peggy) Strzyzynski of Florida, her sister Lorraine (George) Lucas of Wisconsin, her aunt Helen Sagovac, cousin Diane Sagovac and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert, who passed away in 1986, her sisters Joan Lynch and Theresa Hartwig and her brother Michael Strzyzynski.
