Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Shanahan, 78, of Libertyville, passed away unexpectedly on February 12, 2016 at her residence. Barbara was born and raised in Chicago, graduated from Alvernia High School, and attended Mundelein College in Chicago. She had been a Libertyville resident since the mid-1960s. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church for 50 years. She was active in her children’s lives, volunteering at St. Joseph School as a typing enrichment teacher and cheerleading coach, and worked for many years as a direct mail marketing executive. Her greatest pride was her children whom she encouraged to grow and spread their wings, and because of her, they are all successful in their own right. Her insightful advice and selfless listening made her a great friend to many.
Barbara is survived by her children Susan (Warren) Corrado, Michael (Carole), Daniel (Dyane), Deborah, and Timothy (Stephanie); her grandchildren Erin (Dan), Adam, Courtney, Matthew, Abby, Steven, Jenna, Kayla (Tayler), Andréa, Alexandra, Katherine, and Michael; her great-grandson Brayden; her brother Leonard; the father of her five children John “Jack” Shanahan; sisters-in-law Audrey and Kathleen, many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Cecilia, sister Dorothy, and brother Arthur.
