Obituary of Edward Leo Ayala

Edward “Leo” Ayala, 81, better known as Uncle Leo, passed away January 26, 2016 at Advocate Condell Med. Ctr. Libertyville. Leo was longtime resident of Libertyville, served in the US Army and worked many years at the Libertyville News Agency. He was a great man who was loved by many. To us, he was a hero and a fighter who never gave up. He is now at peace in Heaven.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents Vincente Ayala and Flora Mejia Ayala; his sister Alice L. (Ayala-DelaPena) Castillo and brother Ralph Ayala. Leo is survived by his nieces: Sandra (Donald) Crawford, Patricia (James) Cantwell and Sharon Haataja; three generations of nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
Visitation for Leo will be Friday January 29, 2016 from 4 – 8 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place (Rt 176, 1 Block East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville where there will be a service with military honors at 8:00 pm. Private interment, Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated. Funeral information (847) 362-2626.
