Bernard J. McDonnell Jr., 87, attorney of law of Vernon Hills, passed away Dec. 6, 2014. Bernard practiced law until he retired at 80. He was the village attorney of River Grove for many years. Bernard was active member in his community serving in the American Bar, Chicago Bar Association, Knights of Columbus and Lions Club of River Grove.
Bernard is survived by his cherished wife of 64 years, Dorothea (nee Galecki); beloved son Bernard W. (Mary) McDonnell; loving brother Michael (Joan) McDonnell; dearest nephew James Lynn; proud grandfather of Nadine (Nate), Jelena (Chris), Stesha; proud great-grandfather of Jaline and Nathanial; and dear friend Robert (Gail) Ptacek.
Funeral Mass 10 am Thursday Dec. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville. Entombment Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation Wed. 4 – 8 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl (Rt. 176, 1 Blk East of Rt 21) Libertyville. No memorials.
