Obituary of Richard Megerle

Richard O. Megerle, 82, of Libertyville, formerly of Morton Grove, passed away June 26, 2014 at the Captain Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago after a long illness. Rich served his country with the US Air Force. He later owned a pet supply business and participated in many state fairs. He loved to travel and his business gave him the opportunity to see all parts of the country. He also had a passion for cars and extensively traveled to visit 100's of car shows. If there was a car show, you could count on Rich being there. He had many cars over the years and every one of them was special. He kept a list of all the upcoming car shows and tried to attend them all. He enjoyed talking with other owners and comparing notes about cars. Rich will be remembered by all as a devoted friend and someone you could always count on. He will be sorely missed because he found joy in everything and everyone he met. He has left so many wonderful memories to all of his family and friends. Richard is survived by his son Scott (Jodi) and daughter Sheri (Ron) Meverden; grandchildren Emma, Tanna and Nikki Megerle and Lindsay and Jeffrey Meverden; and his best friend Sylvia Marshall. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol (nee Welch) and his son Baby Jeffrey Megerle. Funeral services with military honors will be 8 pm Thur. July 3 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville (Rt. 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave) where there will be visitation Thur. from 5 pm until the time of service at 8 pm.
