Obituary of Susan Woods

Susan Mary Woods, Susie Q, and 'Ma' to her three boys, 57, of Grayslake, IL. passed away on 05.27.14. Sue fought a tremendous battle with cancer over the last couple years. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, Sue began rigorous chemotherapy on her birthday, March 18th, 2013. Sue opted to stop treatments in early 2014, when she learned that it could not be cured. Her Faith was never shaken and continued to grow even as the prognosis worsened. Sue had a way of making everyone feel appreciated and loved. Upon finding out the news of the cancer progressing, Sue told her doctor 'It would be ok'. She looked at us (her sons) and assured us by expressing how blessed she felt and how proud she was of us all. Our mom has been a precious gift that we will never forget. Sue was born in Chicago, IL. at St. Joseph's Hospital on March 18th, 1957. She attended Amundsen high school. Sue worked in environmental services for Victory Lakes in Lake Villa, IL for 14 years. Sue enjoyed spending time with friends and family above all. She loved the outdoors and spending time communing with nature, a simple walk in the forest preserve or a road trip up north to Wisconsin. Sue has three sons: Lance, married to Melissa, David, married to Tera, and Danny, married to Mary. Sue's grandchildren were Tiffany, Nicole, Joe, and Ian - Lance's kids. Cailey, David, and Luke - David's kids. Rosie is my Mom's beloved beagle who could always be found resting by her feet and bringing her comfort. Sue has four sisters and three brothers. Funeral Mass will held at 1:30 pm Friday May 30th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Ave, Libertyville, IL. 60048. Father Merold of St. Pat's will be officiating. The wake will be held at 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, May 29th and from 1:00 to 1:15 pm on Friday May 30th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel at 101 Park Pl, Libertyville, IL. 60048 (Rte 176, 1 Block East of Milwaukee Ave). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
