Charles G. Post, of Libertyville, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2014. Charlie was born in Lowell, MA on October 24, 1916. Moving with his family to Chicago at age 12, Charlie grew up enjoying sports with his brother and being doted on by his many older sisters. Charlie learned to fly in his late teens/early twenties by hitching rides with barnstormers out of Orchard Park Airfield, later to become O'Hare International Airport. Charlie served 6 years in the Coast Guard during WWII serving in the Pacific, Atlantic and Caribbean theaters. After the war Charlie taught at a mechanical training school in Chicago before beginning a lifelong career in marketing, advertising and promotions with International Harvester. In 1950 Charlie moved his family to Libertyville where he spent the remainder of his life. As a founding coach of the Hornets, Charlie helped establish the Libertyville Boys Club Football program that continues today. Charlie enjoyed public speaking, playing cards and travelling with Marion his wife of 65 years. Late in life Charlie became an accomplished stained glass artisan. Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife Marion. He is survived by his daughter Diane, sons Michael (Lou) and Robert (Maureen), grandchildren Kris (Nick), Josh (Rachel) and Katie (Jason), and great grandchildren Mason and Charlie.
