Obituary of Gladys Marie Stewart
Gladys M. Stewart, age 93, formerly of Glencoe and Huntley (Del Webb), passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation for Gladys will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon pm on Thursday August 1st at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, located at 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Service will be held at noon at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital www.stjude.org or a charity of one’s choice.
Born on August 12, 1930, in Glencoe, Illinois, Gladys was the daughter of Roy and Frieda Jost. She married the love of her life, Lachlan, on May 1, 1954. Gladys dedicated her life to raising her family and played an active role at Glen Cote Thrift Shop.
She had a deep passion for gardening, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and needlework, always finding joy in creating beautiful things. She was passionate about raising her children, leading Girl Scouts, teaching Sunday School and involved at Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; camping and RV adventures, bringing family together during the holidays and making Christmas treats. In retirement she and her beloved husband each enjoyed playing Bocce ball and RVing in Arizona during the winter.
Gladys was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Art (Sandy) Stewart, Carol (Michael) Davidson, and Betty (Ric) Fogle, by her grandchildren, Lisa, Kim, Jessica, Ben, Jeremy, Rebecca, Michelle and Kristy and by her great grandchildren, Lily, Ellie, Nolan, Andrew, Maddie, Josh, Hailey and Harper. She is preceded in death by her husband Lachlan, her parents and her siblings Esther, Ken, Wally, Ed and Liz.
