She will also be missed by her many other friends and relatives and her co-workers and students and their families at Goldfish Swim School in Mundelein and Village Green Montessori School in Libertyville. Sofia was born in Mexico City, Mexico on February 13, 1970. She attended a private English elementary school called Garside School. She studied languages in college for 2 years at Montelia University in Mexico and then transferred to the Sorbonne University in Paris, France where she lived for 2 years and worked as an Au Pair. Sofia moved to Hermosillo, Mexico for a few years before eventually moving to Chicago in January 1999. Sofia and Paul started dating in February 2006 and were married on October 12, 2007. They lived together for about 5 years in Mundelein before settling in Libertyville with their children Veronica and John.
Sofia was very passionate about her work at Goldfish Swim School in Mundelein and loved meeting all of the children and families, she was very upset when she was no longer well enough to keep working. Sofia had many other passions in her life such as knitting, cooking, crafting, and decorating the house for Christmas and Dia de los Muertos. Sofia loved going out with Veronica and bringing her shopping and going to Great America. Sofia also loved cuddling and hanging out with John before school in the morning.
A GoFundMe memorial account has been set up for her children under the name of "Support Veronica and John Seely". We appreciate all the love and support the community has offered during this time. Sofia’s celebration of life service will be held at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville, IL from 2 - 5 PM, reception 2 - 4 PM with a service at 4 PM. Funeral info (847) 362-2626.
