Obituary of Indru B. Advani
Indru B. Advani, age 87 of Vernon Hills, Illinois, passed away on February 28, 2024. He was a completely devoted husband, father, and grandparent as well as a loving family member to many others. He was loved and revered by all.
Indru was born to Bhagchand and Radhi Advani on November 13, 1936 in India. He spent his early years in Hyderabad (now Pakistan), and migrated to Bombay during his youth. After spending the latter part of his youth in Bombay, Indru briefly moved to Hong Kong where one of his sisters lived. Returning from Hong Kong, he completed his studies in Bombay and met his future wife, Roma.
Indru emigrated to the United States in 1964, and initially settled in Michigan with Roma where they married. They moved to Regina, Saskatchewan in Canada where they had their only child, Raveen. In the early 1970s, they moved to the Chicago area where they settled and remained for the rest of their lives.
Indru was a true gentleman. He was known as a very kind, calm, self-sacrificing and family-oriented man who was truly a gentle soul. He valued education and could intelligently discuss a wide range of topics, while supplying a good sense of humor in the process. His family and friends enjoyed many laughs and good times with him. He worked very hard and persevered to achieve a nearly 30-year successful career managing hospital laboratories.
Most important to Indru was his family. He was a devoted husband to Roma, and loved building a life and spending time with her, as well as going on travel adventures together. They were truly the best of friends and were inseparable. Indru was a very loving and supportive father and a proud, highly involved grandparent. He was also a loyal son, brother, brother in-law, and uncle.
Indru was preceded in death by his wife Roma, and is survived by his son Raveen, as well as his grandchildren Katherine (20) and Sanjay (14). He will be dearly missed beyond words, and his example of how to live a principled life with kindness and integrity will always stay in our minds and hearts.
The memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 16 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, Illinois 60048. Following the memorial there will be a private cremation service, and then at 2:30 PM a prayer at the Sikh Religious Society Gurdwara Palatine, 1280 Winnetka Street, Palatine, Illinois 60067.
