Obituary of Glory Smart

Glory A. Smart, a cherished 62-year resident of Libertyville, peacefully passed away on January 13, 2024, at the age of 93. Throughout her life, Glory found immense joy in her family and her faith in God. Her primary role and greatest source of happiness were found in nurturing and raising her seven children. Even in her final weeks, she continued to prioritize the well-being of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, ensuring that everyone was cared for.

Glory devoted an impressive 25 years of service as a secretary at the Great Lakes Naval Base. In her retirement, she selflessly gave her time working at the Winchester House and the American Cancer Society. A dedicated member and volunteer of St. Joseph Church in Libertyville, Glory's generous heart touched the lives of many, and her absence will be deeply felt.

Glory is survived by her loving children Jamie (Cetta), John (Sandy), Tom (Vera), Pete (Sue), Carol, Terry (the late John) Lambert; her dearest grandchildren Jeffrey (Megan), Danny, Kimmy (James), Johnny (Alison), Kelly (Brian), Valerie, Christopher, Ryan (Andrew), Jason, Peter, Steven (Savannah), Sean, Kaytlyn, Jill (Andrew), Kristen, Shannon; her cherished great-grandchildren Abbey, Aidan, Ellie, Andrew, Owen, Emmy, Carter, Rylee, Blake, Jamie, Maddie, Jazmin, Jack and Grayson. She is preceded in death by her daughter Peggy (the late Jay) Ames; her sisters Virginia (the late Wally), Helen (the late Bernie), and Olivia (the late Al).

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday Jan. 25^th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Wed. Jan 24^th  at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Interment to follow Mass at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
