I had Miss Hellinga for gym at Golf Elementary from 1961 - 1968. She was a great teacher and I remember how cool she looked in her wool plaid shorts and her updo hairdo. And of course the famous "Go you chicken fat go".
Went to her day camps and Adventure camps and they were GREAT.
My prayers and sympathies are with her family and friends.
Fond memories,
Jan Stawiarski

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Judith Belluomini. She was one of my most favorite teachers back in the 1960's at Golf Elementary school. I recall all the basketball, floor hockey and of course the dodgeball games we had under her supervision and guidance. As a kid being die hard Green Bay Packer we connected on football extremely well. I do recall a time that I showed her my homework from art class of a Green Bay Packer helmet. She asked me to make her one. I did and she hung it in her Golf school office. As a kid, what a moment that was. I will never forget. RIP Mrs. B.

Judy was a wonderful physical education teacher who taught her students not only physical skills, but to have a positive mental attitude about themselves as well. Her gym shows, which usually kicked off with the students trotting into the gym to the theme from the movie Rocky, were a highlight every year. She was patient and kind as she helped her students be the best they could be, and she especially worked well with our special education students. Judy contributed significantly to District 67, and I'm sure her students and their parents remember her fondly. It was my great pleasure to work with Judy as her principal and later as superintendent for many years.

We lived next door to Judy and Frank for many years. Like her husband Frank, Judy was not just a neighbor, but also a friend. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.

I first met Judy in the late 1970’s at an obedience trial where I showed my GSDs and Judy her Collies. Over the years we formed a friendship built on our love of dogs and dog sports. As I switched to Belgian Tervuren in 1981, Judy and I started traveling together to dog shows. We made many memorable trips to Canada where I showed my Tervs and helped Judy show her Collies. Sometimes we’d meet at her mother Regina’s place in Indiana and load everything in one of our vehicles.
These precious memories will be with me forever as I warmly remember my good friend and the bonds we shared. Run free with all your Collies now Judy as they’ve been waiting for you over the Rainbow Bridge.
