Obituary of Michelle Catherine Shepley
Michelle Shepley, 28, of Libertyville.
Michelle was an amazing, loving soul who, despite the many challenges life threw her way, approached each day in life with a beautiful, contagious smile. From the moment Michelle took her first steps – stealing the show at her brother and cousin’s First Communion – she would go on to continuously demonstrate to everyone just how far she could go in life.
Michelle took pride in everything she did, including her work at the Great Lakes Navel Base, where she worked since 2016. The term ‘sports fan’ barely scratches the surface of Michelle’s passion for all things related to Chicago sports. Whether it was a question about a player, statistic, or game schedule, you could be sure Michelle would always have the answer. She was also quite the committed and successful athlete herself, participating in many Special Olympics sporting events, including quite a few trips to state-level competitions. Michelle could school you in bocce without even trying.
However, at the heart of Michelle’s life were her family and friends. There was not a single thing that Michelle would ever say ‘no’ to if it meant spending time with the people she loved and who loved her immensely in return. Be it bowling nights with friends, trips to South Carolina with family, visits to the zoo, or anything else, if it mattered to her loved ones, it mattered to her. It did not matter what it was, she would be there. As a devoted aunt, Michelle treasured every moment she had with her three nieces. She thought of them constantly and never failed to have treats and gifts to give them. As an animal lover, Michelle also loved every visit from her fur niece and nephew.
Michelle is survived by her parents, Mark and Katie Shepley; her sister, Elise Shepley; her brother and his wife, Mark and Ellen Shepley; and her three nieces, Brynn, Blair, and Amelia Shepley. As a cherished member of a close-knit family, Michelle also leaves behind her beloved grandmothers, Rosalie Campeau and Bernie Shepley, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michelle joins her grandfathers, Gerald Campeau and Duane Shepley, and aunt, Robin Bartels, in the kingdom of Heaven. Michelle’s loved ones held a special place in her heart and it is in those she leaves behind that Michelle’s spirit and memories will forever live on.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday Oct. 13th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville.
