Obituary of David Young

R. David Young, 86, longtime Libertyville resident, passed away Aug. 23, 2023 at Advocate Condell Med. Ctr. Dave was born in Maryville, TN to Donald “Chief” and Margaret Young. He attended the University of Tennessee and after graduation, he began his career at the Alcoa Aluminum Corp.  After a period with Alcoa, he moved to Abbott Laboratories where he devoted over 30 years prior to retirement. Dave was a passionate golfer and traveled the world playing the most iconic courses. He was a lifelong University of Tennessee football fan and lived by the motto Hate Bama Early. His greatest role in life was grandpa. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Dave is survived by his children Chris and Tim (Cristen); his grandchildren Emily, Maddie, and Ryan; and his dear close friend Peggy McCraken Bentley.

Visitation for Dave will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Wed. Aug 30th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thurs. Aug. 31st at the funeral home interment following at Lakeside Cemetery.
