Obituary of Jozef Zak
Jozef Zak passed away peacefully on the evening of May the 19th, 2023 in the loving company of his family and closest friends at the age of 68.
Jozef was born to Franciszek and Bronislawa Zak in Gorki, Poland in February of 1955. After high school he studied philosophy and theology in Poland. Afterwards, with an unparalleled work ethic, he worked as a miner. After the imposition of martial law in Poland, he emigrated to the US where he attended a College in Orchard Lake. He then went on to become a commercial driver in the United States before meeting the love of his life Jolanta in Detroit. Together they moved to Chicago and lovingly raised two children.
Jozef was a caring father who spent what time he could with his children despite the strenuous obligations of work. He loved to speak with his many friends and family members, especially his cousin Maria. He loved to sing and dance, and had a radiant passion for life, and infectious optimism. He never met a stranger in life, and always made friends of all he met. He was known to be a deeply caring man who assisted all those in need whenever that need had arisen, and never refused those in need of assistance. Jozef was deeply in love with photography, and spent a great deal of time capturing the beauty of his travels, both at work and with his family. He was an avid gardener who was known for his beautiful tomatoes and roses, and his nurturing care of numerous cacti. He is survived by his wife Jolanta, his sons Jakub and Jozef, his brothers Henryk, Boguslaw, and Kazimierz, and sisters Anna and Teresa, many cousins and friends.
The visitation for Jozef will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday May 24th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville.
