Obituary of Eileen C. Whelan

Eileen C. Whelan (nee McDonough), 87 of Libertyville, IL, passed into eternity February 21, 2023. Daughter of Catherine and John McDonough and beloved sister to ten siblings. She was married to Justin “Bud” (deceased) for 58 years. She is survived by; son David (married to Cathy, children Kevin, Lauren and Caitlyn), daughter Susan Kane (married to James, children Erin, husband Bryan, Michael, Alexander and Allison), daughter Diane Lilja (married to David, children Brittany Bierman, Rachel Bierman), son Daniel (engaged to Lauren, children Ryan, Madeline, Colin and Sarah), son Michael, and son William (married to Liz, children Anna, Declan and Darcy).

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A fifty-five year resident of Libertyville, she devoted herself to her husband, her family, and her faith.

Visitation 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville, IL  60048, 847-362-2073. Funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. followed by chapel service at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL 60048, 847-362-1247.
