Obituary of Margaret O'Hara

Margaret O’Hara, 85, of Vernon Hills, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. Margaret graduated from Marion College and shortly thereafter started a long influential career in education. When her family moved to Vernon Hills, she became a sixth grade English and Social Studies teacher at Hawthorn Middle School where she helped shape minds for over 20 years.  Outside of school, Margaret was passionate about reading, cooking, crafts, and traveling. Margaret's proudest achievement was raising four strong and independent women, and she will be dearly missed.

Margaret is survived by her loving children Elizabeth (Mark) O’Hara-Fisher, Helen (Joel) Naleway, Genevieve (John) Bilski, and Mary Margaret (Donald) Buckner; her cherished grandchildren Julie (Andrew) Chenohara, Jordan (Jim) Naleway-Carney, Patrick & Jack Naleway, Jessica (Adam) Nessel, Claire (fiancé Andy Ahonen) Bilski, and Sarah Buckner; her adoring great-grandson Myles Nessel; and her dearest siblings Joan Turner and Ann May. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert, and her sister Betty Heise.

Visitation for Margaret will be from 2:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, Feb 5th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Monday, Feb 6th at Saint Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US Hwy 45, Indian Creek, IL.
